A platform for marginalised groups to raise concerns and demand solutions

NANGO is organising a National People’s Assembly in Harare to bring together 30 representatives from diverse marginalised groups, government officials, and the media. The primary focus of the assembly will be on engaging the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, along with other government ministries and departments. The objective of this event is to provide a platform for participants, particularly from marginalised groups, to express their voices and raise concerns regarding pressing issues such as poverty, food security, financial challenges, and injustices related to COVID-19 vaccines, among others which will all feed into the SDG Mid-Point Summit.

The Annual NGOs Directors’ Summer Retreat is a signature event in Zimbabwe that is led and driven by civil society organisations (CSOs). It is hosted by the National Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (NANGO), a voluntary coordinating organisation that draws its membership from local and international NGOs operating in Zimbabwe. The primary aim of the Summer Retreat is to strengthen the voice and impact of NGOs in the country. This edition of the Summer Retreat will be held under the theme, “Reimagining the Future of Civil Society in Zimbabwe: From Analysis to Action.”

As a member of NANGO, it is important to show up to the yearly meeting. This meeting is an opportunity to deliberate on how the association will progress in the next year and also, the meeting gives members a chance to give a quick overview of the association’s standing, and achievements, and allows members to get answers to questions they may have. Members also have an opportunity to share their opinions on what they feel should change and what should stay the same. As a member, it is our duty to be involved and help the group to succeed.
