ActionAid Zimbabwe seeks to recruit for the following 1-year Graduate Internship positions:

(1) HR & ADMINISTRATION INTERN (Harare)

The intern shall function collaboratively as a member of the Admin and HR team and will play a significant role in providing secretarial, office maintenance and administrative support in order to ensure that the organizations services are provided in an efficient and effective manner.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Recent graduate with a degree in Business Administration, Business Studies, Human Resource, Logistic or equivalent.
  • 1-year work related learning experience in Administration, Human Resource, or related field
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Possess the right attitude and ability to smile and receive visitors and calls politely
  • Well-groomed and presentable
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work

(2) ADMINISTRATION INTERN (Rusape)

The intern shall function collaboratively as a member of the RDA team and will play a significant role in providing secretarial, office maintenance and administrative support in order to ensure that the RDA office services are provided in an efficient and effective manner.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Recent graduate with a degree in Business Administration, Business Studies, Human Resource, Logistic or equivalent.
  • 1-year work related learning experience in Administration, Human Resource, or related field
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Well-groomed and presentable
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work

(3) COMMUNICATIONS INTERN (Harare)

The intern serves to assist the Communications Officer in further developing effective information exchange and communication, collect and disseminate documentation about programme results and impact in relation to objectives set in Global AAI strategies and AAZ Country programme strategy and AAZ Communications strategy. The intern will assist with execution of communications activities and will take personal responsibility for information activities as delegated.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Recent graduate with a degree in Journalism and Media Studies or related discipline
  • 1-year work related learning experience in Communications or Journalism
  • A flair for writing and finding the good stories
  • Interpersonal communication skills and proven skills in teamwork
  • Capacity to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms
  • High level of integrity
  • Be good at planning and organising
  • Ability to work under pressure

(4) LOCAL RIGHTS PROGRAMME (LRP) INTERNS X 3 (Nyazura, Hwedza and Chiendambuya)

The interns shall function collaboratively as members of the Programs team and will play a significant role in providing sponsorship, programmatic and administrative support in the Local Rights Programs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Recent graduate with a degree in Social sciences, Development studies, Rural Development agriculture, Sociology, Psychology, or any other related field
  • 1-year work related learning experience in rural development sector including networking with local NGOs, local government agencies and community -based organisations
  • Ability to work in a multicultural community
  • Ability to work under pressure and on tight deadlines
  • Willingness and ability to ride a motorbike will be an added advantage
  • Ability and preparedness to travel and work in difficult conditions
  • Comfortable working with children

Acting Director

Summary

The organization is a women empowerment organisation that works for the upliftment of the poor and the disadvantaged women in different communities in Zimbabwe by increasing their access to resources and skills in a sustainable manner in order to improve their socio – economic conditions and improve their food security.

The organization is seeking to appoint an Acting Director in keeping with the organisation’s strategic vision and mission, set direction, lead, maintain team morale, safety and welfare, while managing resources, delegating specific duties as necessary and maintaining oversight and accountability.

The position
The Acting Director is responsible for day to day smooth running of the organization including guidance, supervision and evaluation of all staff and administration of the organisation.

Main responsibilities
The organisation presently works in 12 districts in Zimbabwe. The  Office employs 15 staff members. The organisation runs projects within the thematic fields of women economic empowerment and humanitarian support.  As acting Director you will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation achieves its vision, mission and goals by developing and delivering the highest possible quality in its operations. The priorities are also to ensure that the organisation complies with grant agreements, its policies, its strategies, improves on cost-efficiency and quality requirements.

About you

The Organisation is looking for a candidate who:

  • Shares the organisations vision of seeing empowered women in communities that are sustainable and peaceful.
  • Has several years of management experience within a civil society context.
  • As a leader, who is value-based and mature with the experience, commitment, and tools and skills to support encourage and build staff to succeed in their roles.
  • Is a feminist with an excellent understanding of development in both its theory and practice.
  • As acting Director must have excellent ability to organise, plan, prioritise and communicate your work.
  • Has more than five years’ experience in working with development partners

Required qualifications

  • Masters in Development Studies, Business Management, Strategic Management Economics, Sociology, or other relevant fields;
  • At least five years of experience working in civil society organisations including organisational development, economic empowerment, and advocacy;
  • At least five years of experience working in a management position within civil society organisations;
  • Proven experience in resource mobilisation
  • Proven experience in planning, implementation, and reporting of projects;
  • Excellent skills in financial management and budget analysis;
  • Good understanding of monitoring and evaluation of projects;
  • Good theoretical understanding and experience in rights-based approach, civil society development work, gender equality and gender transformative approaches;
  • Excellent skills in strategic planning, implementation, and follow-up; Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong team player with excellent deadline management and ease to work towards set goals; Proficient in computer skills.
  • As director you need to have passion in your work and good relationship with staff and membership

Merits
Experience in administrative, operational and finance, development work, fundraising, marketing and communications.
